In 1997 a group of Pediatric Oncology Parents came together to create a ribbon that would represent Childhood Cancer. After discussing many colors, the Gold Ribbon was chosen. Gold, like our children, is precious. In conjunction with Candlelighters (now known as American Childhood Cancer Organization) Gold Ribbon lapel pins were produced and the awareness campaign began.
Many people are still unaware that the Gold Ribbon is the symbol for Childhood Cancer. It is used, not just in American, but other countries throughout the World.
