The Kiah Foundation is dedicated to Makiah Bartsch, who was diagnosed with hepato- blastoma at age four. Makiah fought beyond what we dreamed possible, enduring countless medicines, side effects and surgeries. She never lost her vigor for life and was determined to find pleasure and joy despite the constant pain. Makiah passed away at her home (surrounded by her Mommy, Daddy & Big Brother, her Grandparents, Cousins and Uncle) 10 months after her diagnosis.
We hope to honor her life and her fight by helping families with a child in treatment for a childhood cancer diagnoses. These families are often uprooted and must deal with decreased incomes and additional bills. Travel to and from and lodging during treatment are just a few of the often overwhelming expenses parents find themselves struggling with.
We also hope to fund research and clinical trials specific to childhood cancers. It is our desire to see increased survival rates as well as decreased lifelong side effects from current treatments.
We hope you find this site informative and pray it touches each heart. Please consider donating and giving hope and futures to the 13,000 children and families diagnosed each year. We are a 501(c)3 Non-profit Corporation and all donations are tax deductible.
